Hey people, the date is between 13-15 Dec but still can't confirm which date because I have to know roughly how many people going. So please get your classmates to come in here to comment to say if they are coming or not. For the Muslims, you don't have to worry about food. I will provide that as well...probably buy from a Muslim stall or something, so don't ya worry about a thing.

Hey guys, it's been ages since I last post something here. Have been busy as usual with work and my exam...

I have spoken to Valencia and some of you about our class outing in Dec, probably a beach picnic (food I will prepare, you just need to help me buy bottled drinks and disposable cups, plates and fork. The venue will most likely be at East Coast Park, unless you have better suggestions. What do you guys think?

Ok, since I am preparing food, I need to know how many of you guys are going so that I will know how much to buy and cook. Can you please comment on this blog page and not on the tagboard, thanks.

Blog warns of NUS molester

A STOMPer came across a blog that apparently warns girls of a molester in NUS.

STOMP checked out the blog and the entry reads:

"Girls, please beware! There’s a molester in NUS!

"Our friend was unfortunate to bump into this guy while taking the internal shuttle bus.

"He touched her on the bus and ran off.

"Here’re the details of the incident.

"Date: 2 Sept 2008

"Time: 1340

"Location: Near Central Library, he fled by taking the lift nearest to the Library.

"(He may have taken the lift with you!)"

The blogger describes the culprit as being a foreigner with short hair, fair-skinned, measuring about 1.7m and wearing white polo jeans at the time of the incident.

The blogger says:

"We hope fellow NUS mates can help catch him.

"If you had the same unfortunate experience, please sound out too!

"It may be the same guy!"

There was also a warning to the molester:

"To the molester:

"If you are reading this, watch out!

"We will hunt you down!

"If you are an NUS student, we will make sure we destroy your future!!!"

Seriously, I have seen a marked improvement in your writing skills. You have showed tremendous effort writing in Standard English. Keep it up! When I first taught you in Sec 1, majority of you have poor sentence structure, use of colloquial words (Singlish), poor grammar, wrong use of words. Now, when I read you comments or your essay, I can proudly say that you have made so much improvement. :) (Although some of you still forget to write your 'i' in big capital letter 'I' when referring to yourself.) I think it's the practice you have in writing skills, the number of pages I have been drilling you on Focus on Grammar, and also this blog which forces you to write in Standard English.

Keep up the good work Geekydudes!

Back to Reality...

In a few days time, I will be seeing you back in school. Frankly Speaking, no one is looking forward to it, neither do I. When you come back it's the start of the new term, term 4. The last semester of the year, and your streaming exams starts in week 3. I have seen your EL paper 2 set by Mr Ravi and I believe the standard is quite tough. My advice: Hand in your daily assignments set in term 4, continue to write your comments on this blog. I believe you will be able to pass EL without any difficulty. I can't help you if you never hand in any work assigned to you. You are putting me in a difficult spot and also putting yourself in grave danger.

So buckle up your belts and get ready for the last ride in Sec 2.

Oh yes, some of you may not get the message the previous time...

These are my last few weeks teaching in this school. I am moving on to another school in year 2009. But I will still be keeping this blog to keep in touch with you guys, that's if you want to.

Anyway, enough of play and get back to your books before it's too late.

Puppet Performance on Wednesday

Interdisciplinary Project Work-Habits of Mind (IPW-HOM) Puppet Performance will be on-going on wednesday with Ms Koe and I evaluating you. Please prepare by rehearsing with your groupmates even though one of your group members maybe absent on the day of presentation, your group must still be able to perform without him or her. It also means that all of you must have your own script on the actual day of performance and should not make an excuse to say that the script is not with the rest of you just because someone is absent.

Lots will be drawn which group to perform first.

Geeky Dudes put their hands together and helped raised funds for needy children by making handcrafts out of recyclable materials they gathered from home. They have really done a great job and I am very proud of them. Ahem...they raised a total of $60 from the sale of these handcrafts, while the other class failed to sell anything because they did not have anything prepared.

Way to go, Geeky Dudes!

Kid rolls on floor of boutique, but Mum doesn't care

STOMPer Maria says this child was seen rolling all over the floor at a women's boutique, while her mother paid no attention to her and seemed more engrossed in paying her bill at the cashier.

The STOMPer says:

"Picture taken in a Zara store last Friday (Aug 1) night.

"Are parents these days ignorant of their children's behavior?

"How can a parent, after bringing a child to this world, be mindless about the upbringing of the child?

"Yes, this may just be a small issue of her lying on a public ground, but it affects how people look at this child and the parent.

"This girl was seen lying on the ground, doing log rolls all over the floor and her ignorant and irresponsible mother paid no attention to her and was only engrossed in paying the bills at the cashier.

A Geek is a person with an unusual or odd personality. It is just one who is considered inept (feels out of place, inappropriate), being a fool or a clumsy person. A geek also refers to being a computer expert or enthusiast.

Okay, no no! I am not saying you are a fool...I just felt that all of you have an unusual personality but not a fool. Dudes, I am saying that YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE...The geeks I am referring to because I think you are IT-savvy enough to be here writing comments on a blog. Though some of you may have your personal blogs.

It's going to be last semester for me to be teaching you. I really hope that some of you will heed my advice and do your best to achieve your own targets, be it promoting to next level i.e. 3E or 3NA.

So, geeky dudes! Study hard and stop wasting time playing computer games and out having fun. Don't wait till it is too late. I do not wish to see regrets at the end of the year.

Dudes, I have edited your comments and responded to you. Typically, common mistakes like grammar errors, spelling and punctuation errors were found. Sentence structure needs to be checked as well. Some of you have really put in effort to write in good English. Keep it up.

Warning: Standard English requires you to use proper casing of letters.

E.g. 'I' cannot be written as 'i' in any part of a sentence.

'Ms Lee' and not 'ms lee', 'Ms Kuo' and not 'Ms kuo

I have only received 11 comments so far. Where are the rest?

Woman survives jump but kills passer-by

TAIPEI - A TAIWANESE woman plunged from a rooftop in what was believed to be a suicide attempt, but landed on and killed a passer-by, local media reported yesterday.

Ms Kuo Mei-hui, 64, fell from the roof of a five-storey apartment building in Chungho city near Taipei at about 2pm last Saturday, the Liberty Times reported.

She landed on 53-year-old Ms Lee Mei-yun, who was returning home with her husband, the report said.

Ms Lee had moved below the building's awning to avoid an oncoming vehicle, only to have Ms Kuo land on her instead.

Both women fell to the ground and were seriously injured.

Ms Lee later died in hospital from a brain haemorrhage, while Ms Kuo survived.

A report in the China Post quoted Ms Kuo's neighbours as saying that she had been ill for a long time and had attempted suicide several times.

Taiwan has one of the highest suicide rates in Asia. Last year, more than 3,900 Taiwanese killed themselves, an average of one suicide every two hours.

As mentioned, this is a blog where you could rant your comments about any issue I post here. There will be a weekly post of a debate issue and all you need to do is just write your comments. But before you do so, you need to do some reading or perhaps some research on it just to make sure you know what I am writing about.
